Choral music continues to welcome spring

The Uxbridge Chamber Choir has sung its last note, but music will still entertain Uxbridge. Two more choral concerts are scheduled to take place before the end of this month.

On Friday, April 19, the Monday Morning Singers hosts “Begone Dull Care,” at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 7:30 p.m. Parts of “Folk Songs of the Four Seasons” by Ralph Vaughan Williams will be featured, along with folk songs of other places, from Ireland and Scotland, to Cape Breton and the USA.

Guest violinist is Wesley Bells, and local guitarist Chris Saunders joins the choir. One Voice is directed by Anne Mizen, with accompanist Elaine Brandon. Tickets are $25 at the door. mondaymorningsingers.com

One Voice Singers Uxbridge, a non-auditioned community choir, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Under the leadership of Charles White, One Voice sings an eclectic repertoire, with a focus on contemporary Canadian composers. On Friday, April 26, the choir is offering a spring concern entitled “I Am Song,” (also at 7:30 p.m., also at St. Paul’s Anglican Church).

This will be One Voice’s first concert accompanied by Jackie Crawford, with special guests Abbey Chevrefils and Jillian Foote, students in the Singer-Songwriter course at Uxbridge Secondary School. The choir will also be accompanied by Jenny Kanis on bass and Mike Raines on drums.

Tickets for the One Voice concert are $20 and are available from choir members or at the door.
