Architect hired for animal shelter

The new animal shelter for Uxbridge and Scugog may be one paw closer to coming into being. In a report to council on Monday, clerk Debbie Leroux said an architect has been hired to create the official drawings for the new animal shelter. She said the drawings will be used to determine costing for the construction of the new shelter.

The report also said that township staff and the project manager that was hired in the summer have been working on compiling the requirements for the new shelter and have produced a mock-up of a floor plan that staff agree meet the current and future needs of the shelter.

When asked by the Cosmos why it was necessary to hire an architect when architectural drawings had already been done when the animal shelter was first proposed years ago, Leroux said the contractor retained possession of those drawings when the original project fell through.
