Bruins maul the Hawks for second win in a row

With three power-play goals and a short-handed marker, the Uxbridge Bruins completely dominated the Caledon Golden Hawks in their first visit to the arena on Friday, coming away with a 7-0 shutout.

An indication of what was in store came midway through the first period when the Bruins scored three goals in less than three minutes. Tanner Ryan notched what proved to be the winning goal at the 10:46 mark, assisted by Nolan Winter and Evan Gilbert. A minute later, Winter found the back of the net, assisted by Luke Kemp and Gilbert, and this was followed quickly by Jordan Bonner's unassisted short-handed goal.

The domination continued in the second period when the Bruins pounded in four more goals. Jack Kemp scored a power-play goal less than two minutes into the stanza, assisted by Ryan. Will Stratos followed quickly, assisted by Matthew Morse and Tom Nitsopoulos. Back on the power-play, Ryan scored his second of the night, with assists going to Bonner and Winter and, as the period ended, Colin Glecoff, newly acquired from the North Kawartha Knights, scored with the man advantage. Assists went to Jack Kemp and Bonner.

For goalie Eamon Callaghan, it was his second shut-out of the season, but the Cosmos selected Winter as player of the game for the Bruins, while giving the nod to Josiah Dunley of the Golden Hawks.

Once again, the game was delayed for about 20 minutes in the third period while the arena crew repaired another hole in the boards.

The Bruins are back in action at the arena tomorrow (Friday) night at 7:45 p.m., when they host their Reach Street rivals, the Port Perry LumberJacks. The LumberJacks defeated the Bruins in two previous outings this season.

Bear pause: Bruins founders Bob and Dorothy Pollard were honoured by the Kinsmen Club on Friday by being inducted into the Kinsmen's Wall of Fame.

Vice-president Terry Sovie is reported to be back home from hospital and recovering following a recent motorcycle accident.
