Uxbridge man, woman facing charges for stolen vehicles

A male and female are facing charges after multiple stolen vehicles were located near their residence in Uxbridge.

According to the Durham Regional Police Service, earlier this year, on Monday, March 4, members of North Division responded to a stolen vehicle call in the area of Brewster Road and Concession 5. Two stolen SUVs were located unoccupied and seized.

On Tuesday, April 16, members of North Division responded to a suspicious vehicle call at a property also in the area of Brewster Road and Conc. 5. Investigators received information that multiple newer vehicles were parked in an agricultural area on the property. Officers were given permission from the property owner to check the area, and located four stolen vehicles. A search warrant was sought to investigate neighbouring fields, leading to the discovery of three more stolen vehicles, of which two had been re-vinned (an illegal practice where the original vehicle identification number (VIN) of a stolen car is altered, making the vehicle appear legitimate and posing a risk to unsuspecting buyers).

On Friday, August 30, members of Project Attire (a dedicated auto theft unit that addresses auto theft investigations and recovery within Durham Region), with the assistance of the North Division Community Response Team, concluded their investigation into the stolen vehicles and arrested a male and female who had been renting a home on the property.

Benn Taylor Raddysh, 23, of Uxbridge, is charged with: Possess Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000 x 9, and Alter a Vehicle Identification Number x 2.

Alexandra Mekhdi Gamsari, 21, of Uxbridge, is charged with: Possess Property Obtained by Crime for the Purpose of Trafficking Over $5000 x 9, and Alter a Vehicle Identification Number x 2.

Both were released on an Undertaking, and the allegations have yet to be proven in court.

Anyone with information about this or similar incidents is asked to contact Det. Brown of Project Attire at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 7827.
