Sign of discord in Zephyr

Roger Varley

Zephyr resident Jim Jarvis appeared before council on Monday to request that a community bulletin board located at the hamlet's four corners be returned to use.

He said the by-law department had removed the sign following complaints. He noted the sign has been used for 30 years to advertise local community events with now problems.

"We want to keep the sign," he said.

Councillor Gordon Shreeve, who represents Zephyr, said the sign is needed but added: "It shouldn't be used for divisive messages." Township of Uxbridge CAO Kristi Honey said there had been a number of complaints about the sign but it has not been removed. Regional Councillor Bruce Garrod moved that staff provide a report on the future of the sign.
