Swim club already diving into next season

The Uxbridge Swim Club is quickly swimming into its final month of the regular 2023/2024 season, and as it finishes off with two big events, it is already preparing for the 2024/2025 season.

According to the USC’s James Houghton, many of the club’s 170 swimmers will be attending either one of or both the following events:

Presented by Swim Ontario and hosted by Whitby Swimming, the 2024 Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) take place at the Toronto Pan Am Swim Centre this weekend, from July 4 - 7. “This qualifying meet allows the best competitive swimmers in Ontario to ‘show off their strokes’,” says Houghton.

The swim club will also be sending swimmers to the 2024 Speedo Canadian Swimming Championships (Nationals), presented by Swimming Canada and sponsored by Speedo. The Nationals will take place at the Toronto Pan Am Swim Centre from July 24 - 30.

USC will be hosting four weeks of summer swim camps, beginning July 1 and running until July 26. Interested parties can reach out to uscuxinfo@gmail.com to ask for more information or if spots are still available.

Next season’s public registration will soon be open. Houghton says that interested swimmers can visit Uxpool on Monday-Thursday evenings at 5 p.m., during July for an in-water try-out. Coach review of the swim helps advise placement level for the swimmer. The club has a pre-competitive program for beginners, through to senior performance level swimming. Additional information may be found at the club’s website or by contacting the club at uscuxinfo@gmail.com.

“The club welcomes all newcomers to come out and try it on for size!”
