Tigers invite Uxbridge to Homecoming game

After being off the field for more than a decade, the Uxbridge Secondary School Tigers football team is back, and they are inviting the community to show them that the wait was worth it.

On Friday, Oct. 18, the USS Tigers will play against Brooklin High School in a Friday Night Light’s experience. The game begins at 6 p.m., with the gates opening at 5 p.m.

The Tigers have gotten off to a great start to the season, with an exhibition win against Saint Andrew’s College. They had their first regular season win against O’Neill Collegiate before a tough road loss last week against Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School. The Tigers also play today (Oct. 10) against Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School.

The Homecoming game against Brooklin will likely determine if the Tigers make the playoffs.

One of the key players to getting the Tigers back on the football field during the “Restore the Roar campaign,” Mike Kerford, says that there will be “lots of activities built around the game.

“We’re expecting hundreds of fans and I’m hopeful this will be a wonderful culmination of all the community and school support we’ve seen for our high school football program.”
