Township happy with ‘success’ of parking permit program
The Township of Uxbridge recently announced what it calls the “ongoing success” of its Trail Sustainability Project, which is funded by the Parking Permit Program, in partnership with the Region of Durham and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA).
According to a statement released by the Township last week, the paid parking initiative generated approximately $87,000 in revenue in 2024 from out-of-town visitors. The statement says that money was reinvested into the trails in Uxbridge, and included making infrastructure repairs, the installation of new equipment, and ongoing trail upkeep.
The statement also listed the following repairs and installations: mobile restrooms are now present at all locations; winter grooming is now done at all locations; three new trail head kiosks have been installed; trail mowing was done; replacement and maintenance of garbage receptacles has taken place; two parking lot gates were replaced; parking lot surface repairs were done; signage has been installed; gate relocation has occurred, one automatic external defibrillator and first aid kit was installed; and two bike repair stations were installed.
Said the statement: “The Township, the Region and TRCA appreciate the ongoing support of residents and visitors, which has been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing Uxbridge’s trails. These efforts reflect our collective dedication to fostering sustainability and providing exceptional outdoor experiences for everyone.”
