At the Canadian College Athletic Association championship tournament in Fredericton in March, the Mohawk Mountaineers, guided by captain and point guard Anderson, won their quarter-final match against the No. 3-ranked team from Vancouver Island University. Despite injuries that severely limited their bench numbers, the Mountaineers were eliminated in the semifinals.

In Fredericton, Anderson played the full 40 minutes in each of Mohawk's three games. The team was also lifted by outstanding performances by forward Angong Jacob, who was recognized with a nomination as a CCAA Second Team All-Star.

Anderson was also recognized for outstanding performance at the tournament, receiving the CCAA Exemplary Leadership Award. This honour recognizes a student athlete who demonstrates leadership both on and off the court, emphasizing sportsmanship and fair play.

Anderson, 23, was born in Uxbridge and attended public school here before moving with her family to Whitby. She played regularly for Durham rep teams before winning a scholarship to play basketball for J. Addison High School in Markham.

After graduation, Anderson won a full scholarship to North Carolina Central University in Durham and played basketball for NCCU while earning a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. She now is finishing her second year in massage therapy at Mohawk and is aiming for a career in sports medicine.
