To describe the Uxbridge Cosmos in one word – “community”.
Community is important for many reasons. A healthy community is friendly, supportive, and encouraging. It challenges us to reach greater heights; it incorporates accountability amongst its citizens; enjoys a diversity of interests and abilities; and does not lean towards exclusivity and singularity in thought.
As a community newspaper exploring the various aspects of community life, we often have the chance to see how those who live and work in our township display these traits in their everyday lives, whether in the workplace, on the sports field or behind the scenes at a local event.
We feel it is important to focus not only on the reporting of news, but also on the personal stories that occur in this incredibly unique and dynamic township called Uxbridge. As a local community newspaper we are invested in the future of our township and actively explore opportunities that present themselves that will encourage and enrich our community life.
As a business, we offer a venue for local businesses to advertise to a local readership. Spotlighting the accomplishments and successes of the many associations, organizations, and clubs we are in contact with is a simple way to share and hopefully instill in our readers a sense of community, and perhaps encourage them to consider actively participating or supporting these worthwhile organizations.
Often our lives, filled with responsibilities and commitments, develop a routine that keeps us focused on the task at hand, with little time to stop and smell the proverbial roses. The Uxbridge Cosmos, in part, is a little about stopping to smell the roses that we may pass by in our daily routines. With each edition of the newspaper, we invite our readers to become acquainted with the Uxbridge community around them. The stories we share, the news we report, the photographs we capture are an attempt to share a “slice of life” with our readers in the great township of Uxbridge.
We hope you enjoy our newspaper.
