Annual festival heralds spring and music
The 65th annual Sunderland Lions Music Festival gets underway on March 26 and 27 at Port Perry High School, featuring both elementary and secondary school bands. The popular piano, vocal and instrumental classes will begin on Tuesday, April 8, and continue through April 24 at the Sunderland Town Hall auditorium.
This 65th anniversary features almost 100 different piano, vocal and instrumental classes for participants. Organizers say the festival “provides an opportunity for young musicians from north Durham Region and beyond to perform in public and receive professional adjudication.”
This year’s festival program is now available at online at sunderlandlionsmusicfestival.com.
As per the custom, Class winners will be featured at the “Stars of the Festival” concerts during the evenings of April 22, 23 and 24, also at the Sunderland Town Hall.
