Art on the Fringe Festival returns next weekend

The long-running Uxbridge Art on the Fringe Festival is returning to Uxbridge this year. The festival will again be held at the Uxbridge Historical Centre on September 14 and 15, which is the same weekend as the Uxbridge Studio Tour, turning Uxbridge into an artistic hub for the entire region, if not the province, for the weekend.

“Revel in the creativity of over 30 emerging and established local artists,” says the invitation to the festival from organizers Jane Butler and Deb Park. “Their banquet of artistic productivity includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, fibre arts, jewellery and more.”

Many of the artists will be on-site to discuss their work. All the exhibits and parking are fully accessible.

Butler and Park say that, along with browsing and shopping, visitors can enjoy breakfast, lunch and snacks from the “Gangster & Co.” food truck; enjoy live music from a variety of local musicians, and take in the “wonderful view high on a hill overlooking Uxbridge.”

Visiting Art on the Fringe also includes access to the Uxbridge Historical Centre and its many exhibits. Parking is available in the Historical Centre lot on Concession 6, south of the main building.

The Uxbridge Art on the Fringe Festival is presented by Artists of Uxbridge, a local collective that creates, teaches, promotes and supports art in the community.

Members and their work can be found inside and outside the Historical Centre’s church and schoolhouse buildings. New members at all levels are always welcome.
