Coldest Night of the Year is this Saturday
You may think it’s cold now, but the Coldest Night of the Year is actually this Saturday, Feb. 22. It’s North House’s annual family-friendly walk that hopes to raise money for people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness. By walking during the cold winter weather, participants are meant to feel a hint of the challenge faced by those experiencing homelessness during winter.
This year, North House’s goal is to reach $60,000, which will be used to purchase a passenger van that can transport vulnerable people to appointments.
Participants can register online to walk either 2 or 5 km, beginning at the North House location on Elgin Park Drive (by the Rexall). People can register teams, donate or sign-up to volunteer online at cnoy.org/uxbridge. Those who cannot participate can consider donating to the North House team at cnoy.org
Check in on Saturday will begin at 4 p.m., and after a few remarks by organizers, the walk will begin at 5. A light meal will be served beginning at 6 p.m., and walkers should be ready to return home and get warm by 7.
