Forget about the world for a little while this weekend (and next) and join Dorothy and her loyal companion Toto as they “follow the yellow brick road” through the mystical Land of Oz.

Vocally Inspired Performers (VIP) is presenting The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition at the Uxbridge Music Hall, beginning this Thursday evening, until Aug. 15.

Those familiar with the popular tale know that Dorothy Gale is determined to reach the Emerald City, where the great and powerful Wizard of Oz will help her get home to Kansas. Along the way, she encounter witches (both good and bad), Munchkins, talking trees and winged monkeys. But most importantly, she befriends three unique characters: a Scarecrow with no brain, a Tin Man with no heart, and a Lion with no “nerve.” Their journey to happiness – and self-awareness – is a testament to friendship, understanding and hope.

“It’s been many years since this classic show has been presented in Uxbridge, and VIP is excited to share it with a whole new generation,” says VIP director Marisa Hachey. “The VIP team has put together a cast of 36 talented young performers (plus one adorable pup) from Uxbridge, Port Perry and beyond. They are thrilled to be bringing this classic story to the Uxbridge Music Hall stage!”

Hachey says the production features all the great aspects that Uxbridge audiences have come to expect from VIP: beautiful costumes, fun surprises, energetic choreography and incredible vocals!

“We really enjoyed rehearsing for this production at our new home, Boundless Studio Uxbridge on Bascom Street, too!” exclaims Hachey.

VIP has been bringing family entertainment to the Uxbridge Music Hall since 2011. Tickets for he Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition are $26 (adults), and $21 (students and children under 18), and are available through starticketing.com
