Handel’s ‘Messiah’ - the tradition returns to Uxbridge Baptist Church
In case you’re wondering, 2024 is a Messiah year.
People in Uxbridge often question their neighbours on which seasonal offering is slated for the year - the Living Nativity or the performance of Handel’s Messiah. COVID-19 and the 2022 tornado (which destroyed the venue for Messiah) have left some confused as to what the presentation is this year.
The Uxbridge Messiah Singers return on Monday, Dec. 16, and Tuesday, Dec. 17, with the biennial performance of this tradition, a tradition that has captivated audiences in Uxbridge for over 40 years.
Under the direction of Thomas Baker, at least 80 dedicated singers will perform, along with professional soloists and musicians from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Both performances will be held at the Uxbridge Baptist Church, starting at 8 p.m., each evening.
This year’s concert features the following local and visiting guest soloists from across Ontario: Leslie Higgins (soprano), Ellita Gagner (alto), Benjamin Done (tenor), and Adam Kuiack and/or Jonathan Liebich (basses).
