Leaskdale Loop looks to welcome visitors from near and far
Uxbridge - Have any plans for next Saturday, June 8? If you’re looking for something to do, you don’t have to go far. Head out on a tour of the Leaskdale Loop.
“This will be our fourth year opening our doors to welcome visitors to where we live and work,” says one of the Loop organizers, Patricia Cherrie. “You get to meet the makers and growers and talk to them about the products they are passionate about.”
The Leaskdale Loop is a self-guided driving tour through the countryside of Leaskdale where visitors can discover a series of unique destinations just minutes from each other. Business owners and entrepreneurs in the Loop work together to support each other’s small businesses and promote community engagement and tourism.
“We have connected many great neighbours and developed strong relationships over the past four years,” says Cherrie, who is featured on the Loop at Greenmantle Pottery.
The Leaskdale Loop has lots to offer: woodworking, pottery, handcrafts, decor, historical sites, vintage barns, farm market fare, seasonal fresh produce, cider, syrup, honey, preserves, hostas, day lilies, live edge lumber and more.
“Many visitors are genuinely surprised that there are so many unique places to visit just north of Uxbridge. And once visitors ‘do’ the Loop, we recommend other local places of interest in Uxbridge and the surrounding area for them to see. We want to give people more reasons to come up to the Uxbridge area.”
Several of the Leaskdale Loop businesses have their own opening hours throughout the month, but on the second Saturday of each month, they collaborate to offer a rural day trip experience with a bit of something for everyone.
