Road work coming to Uxbridge

It’s often said that there are two seasons in Ontario – winter and construction. Uxbridge is experiencing the latter now.

From July 17 through to October 23, Brock Road (Regional Road 1) from north of Ninth Concession Road (Regional Road 5) to 200 metres north of Uxbridge Pickering Townline Road will experience daily lane restrictions as required for the duration of the project to facilitate road rehabilitation on Brock Road. Work will consist of culvert replacements, ditching, pulverizing of existing asphalt and granular base, placement of asphalt including paved shoulders, new guide rail and new pavement markings.

Further north, from July 16 to December, Reg. Rd. 1, from north of Sandford Road to 400 metres north of Ashworth Road, in Uxbridge, will be closed to safely complete road reconstruction.

Both roads are maintained by the Region of Durham, which says it “realizes that the work may be disruptive and will make every effort to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and work crews.”

Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
