Township encouraging residents to tidy up for Earth Day
Earth Day is coming up on Tuesday, April 22, and the Township of Uxbridge is inviting residents to take some time on the weekend preceding Earth Day to tidy up the planet.
On the township website, a press release “invites all residents to take action for the planet” by participating in this year’s Earth Day Spring Clean-Up.
“Every effort counts in keeping our parks, trails, and neighbourhoods clean and green!” says the release.
On Saturday, April 19, volunteers can choose to clean parks and trails independently or join a team effort at the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve from 9 to 10 a.m.
This event is also a fantastic opportunity for students looking to gain volunteer hours while making a meaningful impact on the environment.
“As we work together to remove litter, we encourage participants to reduce waste and minimize single-use plastics. If you have access to reusable yard bags, compostable garbage bags, or pails/bins, we urge you to use these eco-friendly alternatives.”
Filled bags or bins can be dropped off at the Township Parks Yard at 129 Main St. N., just outside the main gate.
