BIA October Ladies Night open to all

Roger Varley, Local Journalism Initiative Reporter

In what it hopes will be the first of a series of annual events, the BIA is holding a "Ladies Night" in downtown Uxbridge on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Julia McDonald of The Bridge Social, a member of the planning committee, said downtown stores will remain open for shopping from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. that night, with shopping being followed by an "after party." She said it is hoped the after party will encourage shoppers to visit downtown eateries after making their purchases.

"We want it to be a fun night out!"

McDonald said that, in order to attract shoppers, the BIA will be offering 25 gift coupons for local businesses, each valued at $25. Details are still being worked out, but there could be live music performances during the evening and the Town Trolley might be on hand to shuttle shoppers around.

She said downtown merchants will work together, with some of the eateries providing nibbles and bites to other retailers to offer to customers.

McDonald was quick to add that, although it will be billed as "Ladies Night," men are more than welcome as well.
