Bruins on a three-game skid, with LumberJacks ahead

Taking on the Orr Division's top three teams one after the other last week was a task the Uxbridge Bruins were not up to, posting only one goal per game. As a result, they lost to the top team, the Clarington Eagles, 1-3; the surging Georgina Ice 1-6; and third-place Schomberg Cougars 1-4.
With just three games remaining in the regular season, the Bruins will face the Port Perry LumberJacks at the arena tomorrow (Friday) night in their last home game of the 2024-25 run. In the teams' six meetings since September, the LumberJacks have won every game.
Last Tuesday, just five days after defeating both Schomberg and Clarington, the Bruins' lone goal came late in the second period, a short-handed effort by Colin Glecoff, assisted by Luke Kemp. By then, however, the Eagles had already scored three goals, enough for the win.
At the arena on Friday, the Bruins were completely dominated by the Ice. Georgina scored three goals in the first period, including a power-play marker, and added a short-handed goal early in the second before Tanner Ryan scored the Bruins' only goal. Ryan Shier and Jake Rigillo were credited with assists. The Ice put the lid one the game with another goal late in the second and a final goal in the third.
The Cosmos named Luke Kemp as the player of the game for Uxbridge, while giving the nod to Ryan Cutler of Georgina.
The following night, the local lads travelled to Schomberg, where the Cougars made up for their earlier loss by thumping the Bruins 4-1.
The Bruins led briefly when Darin Bain, assisted by Luke Kemp, found the net late in the first period, but Schomberg tied the game with less than a minute on the clock. The Cougars scored a regular strength goal and a power-play marker in the second and capped off the game with an empty-netter in the third.
As of now, Port Perry is one point ahead of the Bruins in the standings. It is possible for the Bruins to edge them out of fourth place but tomorrow's game is close to being a must-win situation for Uxbridge. Opening puck drop is 7:45 p.m.
Following tomorrow's game against Port Perry, the Bruins close out the season by visiting Little Britain on Saturday to face the Merchants and Caledon on Sunday to take on the lowly Caledon Golden Hawks.
