Council salaries total almost $440k in 2024

A report from treasurer Tobi Lee showed that it cost taxpayers almost half-a-million dollars to pay for council in 2024.

Mayor Dave Barton's total remuneration for the year came to just over $67,800, with his mayoral salary set at $41,500. The additional remuneration came from benefits, car allowance and other expenses. It was noted that Barton donated to charity the retroactive pay increase that he and other members of council voted for last year. Lee said that amounted to $17,525. Of that amount, $2,500 went to the Firefighter's Memorial Statue, and $10,000 to the Uxbridge Hospital Foundation. The remainder will go to another charity.

Because Barton did not take the raise last year, councillor Todd Snooks was the highest paid member of council in 2024, with his base remuneration set at $42,550. The lowest paid were councillors Pam Beach and Gordon Shreeve, whose base salaries were $38,346 each.

The total cost of council, including remuneration, benefits and other expenses, came to $440,000.
