Fatal crash north of town, one dead

A woman has died after a collision in Scugog last Thursday afternoon.

According to Durham Regional Police, on March 13, two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision involving two vehicles on Lake Ridge Road near Scugog Line 14. A Hyundai Venue was reportedly travelling southbound on Lake Ridge Road when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound Hyundai Elantra.

A 29-year-old female passenger in the the Hyundai Elantra was transported to Uxbridge Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation, and roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
